Edited by: Corpia Sin on 09/02/2009 20:24:46 I started by placing buy orders in station and then reselling. I started with ammo. I know ammo isn't great but it is easy and you get a fast turn around. I think ammo purchasing and reselling is the easiest way to familiarize yourself with the market. First that gets you an idea of what sells to you quickly and what you can resell quickly.
I wrote in the notepad the buy orders that filled quickly and what items sold quickly. Then after you turn your inventory around you go out and place more buy orders however this time narrowing down to fast movers and high sellers. Over time you learn what sells.
Then I decided to place region wide buy orders. After a week they filled up and I could see according to my Items page where the majority of items were stored. That was an indicator of where the market was active. Another good tip that could help.
I would create two alts that you place in neighboring regions. You can log these guys on and check the market in that region for a particular item. Then log back on your main in your trade hub and see if there is a profit to be made. Some people, like myself, have two accounts. The second account I use soley to scout into low sec space and to scout for deals in far regions.
There are times where you can make a decent profit selling to high buy orders. For example, if I can haul 500k of zydrine bought for 1900isk and resell it in another region for 2200. Well that is a good profit. Use your scouts to find the deals, use your main to buy the items and haul.
Also there are NPC trade goods that you can start with to learn the basics of hauling and trading and still make a modest profit.
There are courier public contracts that you can fill on your return trip if you are savvy and plan ahead.
There are websites out there that monitor eve market activity which can give you an idea of what sells and where.
In the end there is more than one way to conquer the eve market.
I am only a few weeks old and I have made 250mill in trades. If you got the time and passion you can do it. |

250mil in trades and you're a few weeks old? Are you kidding me? Have you played trading sims before? How much money did you start out with? How does someone completely new to the game pull that off in a couple weeks?
I'm not being accusatory. I'm just baffled at your success/ my stupidity.
I started with 300k. Turned it into 1million in a couple days. Had 24 million in under a week. 84million in 10 days. Then I became lucky and found some Tech 2 mwd's that were profiting me almost 1mill each. I bought dozens and equalized the market, nearly making 165million in one night.

No one ever said your a wuss or you don't know what your doing. Tell you what... people in this forum can be so sensitive.
My advice was to start small and build from there. Start small with ammo or things you have market knowledge of and then build from there.

I think it is also good to have a goal. Just not to make money to make money. But have a goal in mind. Mine was to be able to buy all high end implants then to buy a freighter and expensive skill books. This will cost hundreds of millions isk.
Have a goal in mind and it will direct you where you need to go. The eve market is very healthy and forgiving. Don't worry just dive in and it will take care of you if you do a little planning. |

My personal opinion - that is a bad goal. Are you serious? I am done with helping in this thread as I can see it is leading no where.

How can you have a goal to change the dynamic when you don't even understand the dynamic of eve trading?
I don't claim I understand it completely either, I am not even a month old! But there is in no way I am going to disillusion myself into thinking I can implement major shifts into the market when I haven't even got my nose wet yet.
That is why I doubt your overall seriousness within the business of trade. How can anyone claim they are going to change anything without experiencing it first hand? I suggest you slow down and don't worry about amatuerish dreams of glorifying your wallet by changing the market landscape quite yet....and go sell some ammo first. |
